This article explains how license upgrades work.
Lifetime to Lifetime Upgrades:
Customers need to pay only the difference amount.
Example – If user is considering upgrading from Astra Pro (1000 Sites – Lifetime) priced at $499 to the Business Toolkit (1000 Sites – Lifetime) priced at $1399, user only need to cover the price difference, which is $900 ($1399 – $499).
Annual to Lifetime Upgrades:
Customers need to pay only the difference amount (provided they have an active annual license)
Example – If user is considering upgrading from Astra Pro (1000 Sites – Annual) priced at $89 to the Astra Pro (1000 Sites – Lifetime) priced at $499, user only need to cover the price difference, which is $410 ($499 – $89).
Annual to Annual Upgrades:
In case you upgrade to an annual license, the original date of license expiry is considered, regardless of the date of upgrade. The amount you will be charged will be based on the price difference and the time left in your current subscription before renewal. This means that you will have to pay a complete annual fee in case your earlier license has expired.
Example –Â The user initially purchased Astra Pro (1000 Sites – Annual) on January 1, 2022 priced at $89. Halfway through the subscription period, on July 1, 2022, they decided to upgrade to the Essential Toolkit (1000 Sites – Annual) priced at $199. The price difference between the two licenses was $110, and since there were 6 months remaining in the current subscription, the customer paid $55 to cover the upgrade. On January 1, 2023, the subscription automatically renewed at the $199 rate, ensuring the customer’s ownership of an active license key until January 1, 2024.
The expiration date of the license will not change; an upgraded license will still expire on the original expiration date whether prorated or not.
Note: Above upgrade process will be applied to all Astra packages i.e. ASTRA PRO, Essential Toolkit, and Business Toolkit.

What if there is a discount offer?
If there’s a discount offer on upgrades, you’ll only need to pay the discounted difference amount.
For instance, let’s say there’s a 20% discount on upgrades. If you’ve previously purchased Astra Pro (1000 Sites – Lifetime) priced at $499 and now wish to upgrade to the Business Toolkit (1000 Sites – Lifetime) priced at $1399.
In this case, the difference amount is $900 ($1399 – $499), and you’ll receive an additional 20% discount on this difference. So, your actual upgrade cost will be $720 ($900 – 20%).
